Tonight, the residents of Brunel Ward have elected me to serve as their councillor on Huntsville Town Council. I am honoured, and grateful for the trust you've placed in me. I didn't run for a title, I ran to serve, and that remains true.
Over the last couple months, I've knocked on many hundreds of doors across the ward and had numerous conversations. The people of Brunel are friendly, kind, and care deeply about this town. Thank you for your honesty and for sharing your concerns.
To everyone who volunteered, hosted a sign, donated, or told a neighbour about my campaign: thank you. This was never a one-person effort.
I ran on getting back to basics: small, open government, responsible spending, real value for your tax dollar, and protecting the character of the town we love. With their votes, residents sent a clear message that this is the direction they want. I take that seriously, and it's the vision I'll bring to the council table.
I look forward to working with Mayor-elect Scott Morrison and the rest of Council to see Huntsville flourish.
Throughout this term, if something in town is frustrating you, or there's something worth protecting, I want to hear from you, so I can be your voice on council.
Thank you,
Michael Ankenmann
Councillor-elect, Brunel Ward
